Running the Game
1. Find where it installed to. If you didn't change where it wants to install to it's in C:\Games\Skate or Die
2. Click on "Skate.exe"
3. Choose your graphics mode. See The Graphics modes section of this help file if you need help in this area.
4. Set up your joystick (self explanitory-the game helps you) or choose keyboard control by pressing any button on your keyboard.
NOTE: Skate1.exe asks you to name stunts performed in order to play. Running Skate.exe is recommended unless you're keen on the names of stunts.

Graphics modes
You have your choice of three different graphics modes after clicking on Skate.exe or Skate1.exe: CGA (press the C key), EGA (press the E key), or Tandy mode (press the T key).
CGA is only 16 colors. Best for very, VERY, low end and old computers. Luck at you if you can only run this option. It looks terrible.
EGA is full(what was available at the time the game was created)color graphics. The game looks almost exactly the way it did on the arcade machine or game system you had it on as a kid.
Tandy is obviously Tandy graphics. I don't know how this option reacts I didn't try it.

Controls
Keyboard: Up arrow, down arrow, left arrow, right arrow, and the Enter button.
Joystick: Whichever button you pressed when it told you to 'center your joystick and press a button' is your jump, punch/kick, and ollie button. To ollie (such as in the downhill jam) hold this button down to crouch and release it to get airborne.

Playing the Game
At the splash screen press Enter. The game then requests you either set up your joystick or press any key to play the game with keyboard controls. After doing so press enter again. Choose practice or compete and away you go. If you've chosen to play using a joystick it works (with an analog joy) the same as it did on the arcade machine. Whatever button you pressed after you centered your joystick is your "fire" button. Keyboard controls are the arrow keys with enter being your "fire" button.
If you've played this game in the arcade or a home gaming system you know what to do from here. Simply skate into a labeled area in either corner of the screen to enter or practice in that competition.
Enjoy!
